Sports Massage & Soft Tissue Therapy

Going beyond surface-level relief — we work to understand why tension exists and address the root cause, not just the symptom.

What it is

Sports massage and soft tissue therapy go beyond the surface-level relief of a standard massage. Rather than simply easing tension in the moment, we work to understand why that tension is there — identifying patterns of restriction, compensatory movement, and underlying imbalance that, left unaddressed, often lead to recurring injury or chronic pain.

Sessions combine a range of hands-on techniques including deep tissue work, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy, applied specifically to the areas most relevant to your body and your activity.

Who it's for

Anyone who trains regularly, sits for long periods, carries stress in their body, or is recovering from injury. Particularly effective for people dealing with persistent tightness, reduced range of motion, or muscle soreness that doesn't seem to resolve on its own.

Especially relevant for combat sports athletes, runners, and anyone who pushes their body consistently and needs to recover effectively to keep training.

The benefits

  • Reduced muscle tension and pain
  • Improved circulation and tissue recovery
  • Faster recovery between training sessions
  • Identification of restriction patterns before they become injuries
  • Greater body awareness and understanding of your movement patterns
  • A clearer picture of what your body actually needs

The evidence

Sports massage has a growing body of research supporting its role in recovery and performance. Here's what the evidence currently suggests:

Research published in the Journal of Athletic Training found that massage therapy significantly reduced muscle soreness and perceived fatigue in athletes following intense exercise, with effects measurable up to 48 hours post-session.

A systematic review of 23 studies found that soft tissue therapy was effective in reducing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and improving perceived recovery — particularly when applied within two hours of exercise.

Beyond the physical effects, regular soft tissue therapy has been associated with improved parasympathetic nervous system activity — in other words, it helps shift the body out of a stress state, which has downstream benefits for sleep, recovery, and overall wellbeing.
